  • Created in 1981, we handle and accept charitable donations on behalf of the Baltimore City Mayor’s Office and City agencies. Learn more about who we are and our work

  • The Civic Fund does not provide direct grants to community-based organizations or individuals. Our role is to accept charitable funds for the City of Baltimore and, in partnership with City agencies (or at their direction), facilitate and manage grant programs. See a list of grant programs for which we’ve partnered with various City agencies to administer requests for applications. 

  • No, currently, our only partner is the City of Baltimore. The report Mapping Baltimore’s Fiscal Sponsorship features fiscal sponsors that support community-based organizations. 

  • No, we are an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit with an independent governing board. 

  • Municipalities may need additional capacity or expertise to receive philanthropic funds on behalf of City programs. The Civic Fund is a partner to the City to provide expanded capabilities.

  • If you are expecting a payment from the Civic Fund for work done in partnership with a City agency, please reach out to your contact at that agency.

  • City agencies are equipped to offer an array of programs supporting families and young people throughout the City. A few options include: 

    Mayor’s Office of African American Male Engagement (MOAAME)

    Mayor’s Office of Children & Family Success (MOCFS) 

    Baltimore City Recreation and Parks(BCRP) 

  • We work with the Mayor’s Office and City leaders on a variety of projects focused on supporting the well-being of Baltimore residents. A few featured projects we are proud to support include:

    We launched the Digital Equity Fund to support the creation of community-led digital inclusion plans and provide funding for communities to bring those plans to life.  

    We support the annual Back to School Kick-Off, a fun and free event for the whole family. This celebration brings together families from all over the City of Baltimore to enjoy live entertainment, delicious local foods, and a variety of community resources.
