HyeSook Chung serves as President of the Baltimore Civic Fund, where she leads the organization’s work supporting more than 100 City programs that improve the quality of life for Baltimore residents. She brings more than 29 years of experience in government and the nonprofit sector, along with a deep commitment to helping communities tackle complex challenges. 

Before joining the Civic Fund, HyeSook served as Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services in Washington, DC, where she worked to expand safety net programs like Medicaid, TANF, and CHIP. She previously led DC Action for Children, advocating for better outcomes for children and families. HyeSook is also passionate about using data to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives; her innovative work has been recognized by the Rockefeller Foundation, UNICEF, and SXSW EDU. Outside of work, HyeSook serves on the board of Planet Word and is a prolific knitter.
