Matt Garback is the Deputy Director of the Baltimore Department of Public Works, a role he has held since 2019. Between 2006 and 2015, Matt served as a Legislative Liaison and Analyst for the Maryland State Highway Administration and then for the Maryland Department of Transportation. In 2016, Matt began working for the City of Baltimore as a Special Assistant in the Office of the Mayor. In 2017, he assumed the role of Deputy Chief of Staff to the Mayor.  He also served as Acting Director of Public Works from February 2020 through April 2021. 

Matt has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland, University College, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from the University of Maryland, College Park.
