MacKenzie Garvin
DIRECTOR, BALTIMORE MAYOR’S OFFICE OF EMPLOYMENT DEVELOPMENT
Since 2023, MacKenzie Garvin has served as the Director of the Mayor's Office of Employment Development (MOED) and was also appointed to the Governor's Workforce Development Board.
MacKenzie was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 2009. She immediately began to practice law in Southern Maryland, focusing primarily in the areas of personal injury and workers' compensation. In 2012, MacKenzie was a Special Assistant in the Baltimore City Mayor's Office of Economic and Neighborhood Development. She worked closely on projects and initiatives with the City's economic, housing, and workforce development agencies. In 2016, she was promoted to Deputy Director of the Mayor's Office of Minority and Women-Owned Business Development. In 2017, she joined the Mayor's Office of Employment Development (MOED) as the Director of Workforce Development Projects. In 2020, Mrs. Garvin was promoted to Deputy Director/ Chief of Staff of MOED. During her time as Chief of Staff, she developed key programs such as the Baltimore Health Corps, Hire Up, and Let's Ride to Work.
MacKenzie has a Bachelor of Arts in English: Media Arts from Coppin State University, a Juris Doctorate from North Carolina Central University School of Law, and a Certificate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from the University of Baltimore Schaefer Center for Public Policy. She serves on the Greater Baltimore Dress for Success Board, and she is a recipient of the Daily Record Leading Women, VIP 40 under 40, and Maryland's Top 100 Women awards.
